Mac 101b hotsaw.....o-ring or not??

Tearing my 101b hotsaw for inspection. Found 1 of the 6 screws for the left bearing retainer/shroud broken. So, I remove the left side to extract the screw and find a sealing o-ring covered in silicon. Now, looking at my CP and SP 125 ipls, I see that neither one of them uses an o-ring there. Plus, to my way of thinking, using silicon on an o-ring is a no-no. A little grease and that's all.

Question: Does this engine use an o-ring?

Thanks for the ipl. I tried downloading it from another website but it kept stalling.

Looks like the 101b/d engines do not use a gasket.

IPL doesn't show it. Just a gasket, but not on the 101b.
