Mac 250: How much power does this saw have?

250s won't break the sound barrier, but they don't suffer from a lack of power. Try cutting some clean wood.

Little Ray bucked a bunch of 40" Spruce with this 250. Spruce isn't very hard, but it has a tough fiber, worse than Doug Fir.

36" bar, 3/8" skip chisel, 7 pin rim.

Looks familiar. Your's is cleaner than mine. I toy with the idea of repainting it; I think I'll leave it the way it is, crusty and beat up from 47 years in Vermont. Thanx for the info!

The 250 is about a 4 ci saw, a little more than that IIRC. Power won't be your problem. I think your problem is the slipping clutch. Take a look at it. If the previous owner ran it a lot it might just be time for a refurb. The guys that rev the saws up and drop the saw onto the log go through a lot of clutches in any make and model.
