Did my daily survey of the herbicide damage in the yard and found some new developments, among them maple galls.

I had no idea what they were so I took a closer look with a good light and magnifying glass. It looked like plant tissue to me so I cut one in half to see inside. Nothing crawling so I googled "small balls on maple leaf" and lo and behold, that's what they are.

I found two varieties, the silver maple bladder gall and also the spindle gall on another leaf, not sure what kind, but it didn't look like a maple. Maybe a buckeye??
I dropped it and can't find it now to check again.

Here's what I found in the yard. Is my diagnosis correct?

Since this is an auxin reaction, is it possible it has something to do with the synthetic auxin in the crop herbicide??
