Around here Norway is considered an invasive spiecies because it spreads so fast. I think because a Norway produces lots of seeds.

:agree2: It is heavy wood if it burns decent heck let it grow i like splitting it.
Look at the cuts (notches) between the lobes of the maple leaves. The deeper the cuts, the softer the maple. Silver maple leaves are almost feathery and red and norway maple leaves are broader.
It's a rule of thumb to tell if it's a hard or soft maple. And the harder, the more btu's.
