So I recently got this McCulloch Eager Beaver saw but I know nothing about it besides the absolute crazy amount of DIY that was put into this thing. The sticker says eager beaver but I don’t know which one it is! Can you help me?

Most likely it is an Eager Beaver 2.0 version of the Mini Mac. Should have electronic ignition and a Zama carburetor.

There should have been a decal on the bottom of the saw with a model number and serial number.

Take the information from Mike Acres site with a grain of salt, he has an enormous amount of information but it is not always 100% accurate.

If it was an Eager Beaver 2.0 wouldn't it say 2.0 on the sticker? also is there a way to decode the serial numbers on these saws?

You were right, I tore it apart and it had a zama carb and electronic Ignition, thank you.

With McCulloch, I'm not sure how or why they hoped to keep track of everything unless they had an enormous well organized data base with model numbers and serial numbers.

Then, consider the number of units produced and the interchangeability of parts, it is very hard to know just what you have today when you get a used saw.

If you have all of the IPL's and can match the Model and Serial numbers to a specific IPL you might have the correct information, but even that is no guarantee.

If the model/serial number tag on the bottom of the saw is missing, the only way to know for sure what is it will be to completely dismantle the saw, measure the bore, and try to ascertain if it is chrome plated bore and plain piston, or chrome plated piston and plain bore.

That one in particular is clearly a Mini Mac variant, ignition could be their conventional electronic, could be the CDI version (which requires a different flywheel and coil), or it could be points but as I noted, from the other features and color scheme it seems most likely to be a 2.0 model.
