Do any of you know the most inexpensive source of Calrton chain? Baileys and Comstock logging are close in price by the spool, but fascinatingly the spools only wind up being about $0.50 to $1.00 cheaper then pre-made chains when you calculate per 84 dl chain. I don't need a lot, probably about 12 chains all told.

Amick's Super store has A1LM spools for $240 plus shipping (about $15 for me). Seems to be the best price so far.

I have used (just) enough Carlton chains to know that I don't want another one - unless they become rebranded Oregon chains of course (same parent company).

Their semi chisel is my favorite and I cannot tell the difference in cutting speed between their chisel chain and Oregon after two or three filings. It holds its edge far longer for me. A bit rougher in the cut but it lasts so much longer between fewer filings and the longer cutter.
