A friend of mine bought a new MS 271last year. He has had the coil replaced, by the dealership, five times. What would cause a saw to eat this many coils?

The saw quit running and after a new coil is installed, it runs, but not for long. I am not real familiar with the saw and how long it runs, but apparently it does not run very long and it has no spark. When the next coils gets put on, it's starts.

I guess you could lick your fingers and hold the plug while you yank on it. And that is non standard for sure. Believe me you will know if it is firing

Whenever I have someone yelling that one of my coils is defective, I insist that they send them back, and find nothing wrong with them. Most times they are just guessing/part swapping, and expect me to eat the shipping both ways.
Seriously, tell him to try another dealer.
