ms361 problem

I just bought a used MS361 saw; almost new. It worked fine prior to shipping but now it has no spark. I got a new plug; checked for spark but nothing. Any recommendations to track down the problem? I don't really want to take it to the dealer unless needed. Thanks

The saw is less than year old; hard to believe it could be the coil.

Change the plug first. Then pull the air filter cover and check the grounding wire. If that looks good, remove the starter housing and check the ground wire in there. Also check that the gap between the coil and flywheel is about the thickness of a business card. If everything looks good I'd begin suspecting the coil itself. I believe they have a lifetime warrantee for the original owner.

Had a coil die on my older 361 , no warning , warranty to original owner only so it cost me 100.00$$ .
