I need advice on removing a Mulberry tree that is about 4-5 inches around the trunk,it is too close to the foundation of my house. I want to SAVE this tree. :) :) :) :help:

How close to the house is the tree?

Hi Nancy, If the the tree is not too close to the house I would use a tree spade. You would be amazed at the root system on a tree that size. Digging with a shovel would be too much work IMO. Mulberrys grow like weeds here in Iowa and I am slowly eradicating them on my 5 acre spread. They crowd out all the natives  with their fast growth and invasiveness because the birds spread the seeds throughout the landscape. If you want to have a mulberry in a different spot cut down the existing one and plant a replacement in the desired spot. In 5 yrs you'll have a similar tree.
