Hi everyone,
this may be my first project, if the saw is worth the effort.
I purchased a Jonsered CS 2147 WH, used exeample.

Jonsered CS 2147 WH

The way I understand is that saw where produced year 2003, week 46.

The seller said it was sold in shop 2009. Sounds weird, but then, my 2153 was produced 2008 and sold to me, brand new, 2013.

More details, The mufflere are one 503 86 28 03, air intake 537 26 46 01, carb is Zama C3-EL17, who lead me to belive that the list part are i0400045.

The saw was week and I sense that the saw itself are in a poor shape.
compression are 110 psi, have not taken the compression with a bit oil in the cylinder so I can sort out if it's the picton ring who is wore out.

In worse scenarion, wore out cylinder, comes the OEM part 503 86 98 71 with the piston OEM 503 90 73 71 included?
Crankcase seals, do your guys exchange them as a standard procedyre? And if so, with the beering as well?

Comming to carburator, anything there I should exchange as a must do? Maybe gaskets)

Are there any tools I should puchase, for example, piston stopper 502 54 15 01, carb position tool 502 54 17 01, and the clutch tool 502 54 16 01, any other tools that can be handy to have?

Regards,
Tor

Needs to check if the cylinder is wore out tomorrow, anyone knows if this is a true OEM cylinder: Mahle 42 ZN15 W2

That number sound correct for the OEM cylinder. We never had the 2147 here in the states. They gave us the 2145 and the 2149. The 2147 is a red and black old edition of the 346. If you have to purchase a new cylinder and you want OEM you may want to look at the 346NE cylinder, they are the same thing that you have on your 2153. Carnk seals and carb diaphragms are a wear item and I would replace those .

Thanks for your kindly help Dan.
I needed a saw around 43-45ccm, testet HVA 543 XP, didn't like it. Ended up on with this one because it have power enough for the type work I do pluss heathed handlers. I think the american word are prouning, that is what I was planning to use this saw in.

Have som pictures to post tomorrow over the cylinder.
Found another mistake on the chainsaw, carburator who have seen it's better days :)

Pruning - you surely don't need the 50cc NE top end for that, but it does make the saw more versatile. ;)

Dozerdans advice is always good, btw!

That is a correct dating, which means that it may be a good idea to replace the plastic intake clamp with a metal one.

Thanks :) Downloaded and printed out :D

The carb likely needs a carb kit (set of gaskets etc) - and it isn't a mistake, more like a fault or a problem.;)
I think I get away with replacing pump diagram, metering unit and gaskets of course. The needles look good, and the carburetor looks good too.
Switching these things just to be sure it is as good as possible.

There is a newer SB on the same subject as well, but I don't have it availiable for posting right now.

Someone else will likely have it?

Edit; Here is the text from that newer SB:

SB, 357 XP, 359, 353, 346 XP,
Partition wall and clamp for intake system,
2006-03

The existing intake system on 357XP, 359,353 and 346XP currently consists of an integrated plastic clamp in the partition wall. As the clamp is made of plastic, there is a risk of deformation. This results in impaired clamping force against the cylinder, which in turn can result in leakage in the intake system. To prevent this from occurring, we have now introduced a metal clamp and a new partition wall.

The new partition wall is made up of polyamide with 30 % fibre glass.
The new clamp is a hardened steel clamp. The new material and the design of the clamp reduce the risk of deformation and the subsequent risk of leakage.

Full replaceability prevails.
Introduced from serial number:
357XP 061100201
359 061100001
353 061100001
346XP 061100001

New part no. Description Excl. part. no. Remark
537 25 13-02 Partition wall, intake, complete New spare part
537 43 88-01 Clamp, intake New spare part

Spare part, partition wall, part number 537 25 13-01, has been discontinued and is replaced by part number 537 25 13-02.

This does also apply to the Jonsered versions of the same saws (my remark).

Here are a few pictures before I start to work on the piston and the cylinder.

The piston have a few scratches.
And the cylinder have a few strips also, not deep ones.

You have totally correct, the same parts apply also for Jonsered, it's just difficult to find them lol
The only Jonsered part list I could find the part # 537 25 13-02 was in PL 2041,2145,2150 from date 07 and newer.
PL for both 2147,2152 and 2153, information for # 537 25 13-02 lacked.

Thanks for your digging SawTroll and your updated advises. Without you I would probleby orderered the old partition wall, instead I ended up ordering the best parts avaible :)

Slap a new ring in that piston while you have it apart, re-assemble, and run it. Apart from a carbon seized ring you don't have any problems. If you didn't undo the intake boot clamp don't bother swapping it to the newer style (unless you have the means to verify your work).

The intake bellows had quite alot damage, I would think that there has been one item squezed underneath it, so that one will be exchanged
So, will ending up exchanging those parts:
Piston Ring
Gasket
Fuel Hose
Partition Wall Intake (complete)
Bellows
Impulse hose
Airfilter
Crank seals
carb diaphragms, the set.

I only took a little round in the cylinder with P360 and P600, picts to come

Have plans to remove the base gasket, and maybe a bit porting (will be my first porting).
The carb have issues on the H niddle, whitch carb would your guys set on a 2147/346oe?

If you have trouble finding Jonsered IPLs, go to their UK (or Canadian) website. http://www.jonsered.com/uk/support/download-manuals/?query=2147&types=I

I haven't heard of issues with any of the carbs used on those saws, and they all have the same 15mm venturi.

Tanks for the info sawtroll

I consider 3 carbs:
Zama C3-EL18B
Zama C3-EL32 (2153)
Zama C3-EL42 (2156)

The first one of them should fit right on.
The second one is made for the 2153, but should'nt it be possible to just block the return line to the tank?
The last one need a bit more work, thought I read a bit in a thread sunfish have here
