Need advice for non-combustible wall

In my area I used galvanized metal lath, 1.75 inch screwed to wall, then (I think) 22 gauge galvanized sheet metal. Sheet metal comes in 4' x 10' for $40 and the lath 8' at $10 each. Acording to inspector it must be metal as it heats and causes convection current behind to automatically cool. I could 1/2 the distance from appliance to wall by using this method. because inspector likes it, so does insurance co. It must be off floor an inch or so.
