Orsheln/Bomgaars had a good sale this weekend so I picked up a 4910. Before I fueled it, I modded the muffler and carb screws. I noodled some hedge and hackberry with it last night. I fattened the H and L about 1/4 turn each. It's a little heavy on the H side, but I'll try to run a tank through before I tweak it. It was much easier, more responsive to tune than the CS-400. Also, the carb screw heads are much larger than the CS-400 and didn't have to put the plastic caps back on. I still had a little trouble hitting them, had to get a bigger screwdriver and flashlight. Old age and bifocals may be a factor!332473275_592048139444809_5028007729727999195_n.jpg333021422_504761551851855_7237834989132882988_n.jpg333259745_6215268408592533_1207763181074029027_n.jpg332347773_1908018586218500_4015156183886359216_n.jpg333269930_152610287659127_3245978360602534244_n.jpg332196324_534491238575485_7460003672594455423_n.jpg332696627_165036829634761_2660779266669255248_n.jpg332033850_532937685616630_222730931640915952_n.jpg332258044_1380588822763636_5521863256123860115_n.jpg332578660_177132108367699_713007396061888994_n.jpg

Assume you eliminated the pipe in the muffler? I haven't modded mine (yet) but haven't run it much at all. I'll be working on it before I start cutting this year.
Like the saw a lot so far.

Yes, I removed the pipe.

Nice saw. I have a hankering for one of those but I just don't need it.
I didn't need it either. Just fit the details I like. No primer bulb, no computer, non strato, pro crankcase/jug, rubber vibes, simple. It's very similar to my Husky 50 but new, just cheaper more flimsy plastic. I don't think there is anything else on the market that compares from Stihl or Husky. I'll run it against my new CS-400 and see which I like better.

Those are the reasons I wanted one. Especially it being the lightest 50cc saw in current production. I still love my Husqvarna 50 though.

What were they going for?
List at Orsheln is $400, they had 10% off, $360 and $30 gift card over $300 Echo purchase. I also had a $10 off $50 survey coupon. 9% tax took it to $381.50 out the door with a $30 gift card only good at Orsheln and has to be used by April 13th because they change to Bomgaars. Looks like that deal expired. I've seen them pop up used on FB around Tulsa and Ok city from $200 to $275 and they look new. Too far for me to drive. I have the receipt and will register the warranty for the lifetime coil. I think that's 10 years after last production date. Some Echo coils are very high priced.

Yeah, I have enough pieces to keep the 50 going the rest of my life and enough to build another complete saw if necessary. I became impressed with Echo with recent experience working on blowers and I have an Echo edger that I love. They make a good engine compared to similar current Husky and Stihl products. My Husky blower is a pos compared to a similar Echo model. However, the Echo blower coil is $80, nearly half new price of the entire unit. My Mantis tiller has an Echo engine. The coil went out of it and I had to change the short block because the coil was obsolete. Even the Chinese are not making it. Same thing happened to a friend's Shindaiwa 300S. That's my biggest pet peeve with Echo is the coils.

Echo makes a good product and about the best value out there.
I'm pretty certain my 50 will last me as long as I am able to use a saw. I don't use it much but I like to get it out sometimes just for old time sake. I have another 50 that I put together with a 46mm cylinder and meteor piston. Gasket delete, timing advance and muffler mod. It runs really good.

My 50 is a Partner 5000 closed port with modified golf piston, gasket delete, muff mod, 55 top cover/choke system/air filter. I've never messed with timing.

I bet it runs real good. I bought my 50 new in 86, it's stock except for a modded newer style muffler. It still runs as good as it did back then. It's not quite as strong as the other 50 but I still enjoy running it.

I've been looking at the Echo 4910. Seems like a nice lightweight 50cc saw. Anyone know how they compare to a stihl 026? Looks like the 4910 is a good deal, if they produce similar power.

What's the difference with the echo bar mount, and what bars fit this saw? Do these come with 3/8, or .325 pitch set up?
EDIT: never mind on the pitch question, finally saw the chain specs on these.

Put a tank through the 4910 yesterday. Probably too soon to judge, but not on the same level as my 50. It came with semi chisel which doesn't help. I like it, I'd recommend it to anyone, and sure it will last. If you lean on it, the clutch slips and the R's stay up, even with semi chisel. Easy 1st start and 1 pull restart without choke after a chain adjustment. Very responsive, idles great, the vibration is not there. The 400 wins in handling and weight/bulk especially for side trimming hedge. I'm very impressed with how easy both of these start. The 400 is a bit cold blooded but the 4910 is not.

The 4910 responds very well to Porting and tuning. I had mine done and its putting out ~5.75hp (3.3hp stock) and ~3.1 torque (1.9 stock). And it absolutely chews thru anything in its path. The only complaint I had was fine wood shavings getting past the crappy air filter they put on there. But theres a guy on ebay that makes a 3D printed high top cover and filter kit so you can use the round style filter with a better seal, more air flow, and better filtering. Im in the process of converting it to 3/8 so i can run a 24in bar on it. Not that ill ever run it in 24in wood, i just like the length so im not hunched over all day.

Did you do anything to the clutch?

Nope, everything is as it came from the factory, except for the port work and air filter.
