Retired Pediatric ICU physician, married, grandfather, living the life on our `16 acre homestead on a Hill Country hilltop.

Just bought a Stihl MSA 220 C-B and confess to being a bit bewildered about the chain/bar options. The saw came with a Light 04 16 inch bar model # 3005 000 4413 with a .043 slot and a PS3 Super Picco 55 link .043 in gauge chain - 3699-005-0055. Looking to get a spare bar and some extra chains, I found that there are a number of options, including the older Rollomatic E 3005 000 4813 bar, which has a 0.05 inch slot and the 63 PS3 55, part number 3616 005 0055. I also found the 63 PS 55, 3617 005 0055. Stihl told me that the older MSA 220 came with the Rollomatic E and 63 PS3 chain and the one I have has the 61 PS3 chain. I found a number of other chain options, some PS3, some PM3 (older design?). I understand a bar with narrower slot could cut a smaller kerf, not a bad thing with lower powered saws, similar concept to thin kerf blades on cabinet saws.

For someone who has modest cleanup and trimming needs on a mixture of deciduous and cedar trees, what would you recommend for me? Model numbers would help
Thanks to the group

David
