This is in the unit that I filmed the fallers walking the tree around. The ground was pretty wet then. We didn't want a huge slash pile at the landing so it was felled by hand and now the logs are being bunched for the cat skidder. The soil has a lot of pumice in it so it dries out fairly quick and holds up well.

Because if they have a processor and haul tree lengths in, the slash pile is huge.
That requires a big landing. This is a very touchy feelie sale. This unit is on he main route to a Mt St Helens attraction.

There'll be the usual sized pile at the landing. I hope there will be a bit of firewood for the locals too. This sale is very close to what is downtown. Downtown is a post office, grocery store, mini mart, library/dentist and a couple of restaraunts.
