Well it's definately not a 797
My 797's have the 66251 number on
the block.
I think yours is a 790 or 795 but i don't
think the 790's ever had a decomp. Only
the 797's and later 795's had decomp.
You can also measure the bore and stroke
to see if it's a 103cc or 123cc
My guess is 795 at 103cc saw.

my 890 has a decomp. aren't these the same saws not withstanding the gear drive?
 
My 795 and my IPL for the IPL both have the compression release. My 740 does not have a compression release, and my 790 IPL does not show a compression release.

Going back a few messages, most of the 700 and 800 series saws were right hand starter. The only exception I know of is the 795L, Belgian had some photo's of a beautiful example a while back.

Don't know if this helps answer the question or not. It will likely be necessary to measure the bore to know for a fact.
