Back in the early 60's I worked in the woods in Wis. cuttin railroad tie logs for Jess Peterson's mill east of Luck..
The saw I used back then was a McColloch D44, so when one recently popped up on C L I went and picked it up. It has it's share of little things wrong, for instance the pin for the needle valve the diaphram operates is a screw from the outside and someone had apparently unscrewed it from the outside not knowing that the spring inside was now pushing the lever out of line so when they screwed the pin back in it did not go thru the lever now fuel is running out the back of the carb.
It has a 22" McColloch bar on it and also a .404 Mac chain but the chain is about 3 d l's too long, the chain is nothing to write home but before I shorten it I hope I'm not cutting up a piece of Mac. history that someone would like to have, it is 78 dl. Any thoughts?

John
