This is a Gala apple tree. Do you know:

1) what these spots are (maybe one of the rust diseases?)?
2) how I can treat it?
3) how can I prevent future contamination?

Thank you.

1) Yes, Apple Rust, Cedar or Hawthorn.
2) IMHO not at damaging levels to warrant fungicide treatments.
3) Remove Cedar/Hawthorn trees, prune for air flow through tree.

Cedar-apple, cedar-hawthorn, and cedar-quince rust are common diseases of apple and flowering crab. These rust fungi spend a portion of their life cycle on rosaceous hosts such as apple, flowering crab, and hawthorn, and another portion on species of Juniperus . These rust fungi can result in considerable damage to rosaceous plants by causing premature defoliation and fruit distortion and abortion. The effects of these diseases on junipers are minimal.

I cut all the Junipers down and ground them into mulch, my apples still suffered this year as i was a week too late this year, but i hope my cedars where the culprit and not some neighbors, as they might not like me cutting down their trees.
