Oregon 520/120 breaking main springs

Has anyone with this grinder had a problem breaking springs? I just broke a 2nd today. Had this for less than a year.
Ore replaced the first one and I’ll be calling them again tomorrow. Good thing I ordered extras when I bought the grinder

I just purchased a 520-120 less than a month ago. It came with an extra spring. I guess they know they are not of a high quality.

When I bought my 511A (?? years ago), I asked my local dealer what types of repair parts they regularly had to order.

They mentioned that spring and the chain stop (that everybody grinds). But never replaced one.

Admittedly I don't use my grinderad hard ad some, but I've never broken that spring on the 511ax, but I do have a spare for it.

Use grinders hard- get about 6 mo. out of a spring. I can tell when they are getting ready to snap as the head doesn't rise all the way back up. One time I ran out of spares rigged up a couple bungie cords to get by.

I have my 511A grinder set up to not rise up all the way (boot lace / parachute cord limiter)!

Figure it saved me a couple miles of grinder (and hand) travel over the years!

yep when i put a new spring in ,got retrain where the handel is.

I picked up one of the Vevor grinders...$85
It had quite a bit of side-to-side slop at first but after throwing out the stupid plastic knob and torqueing down the 3/4" bolt it is much better...as solid as the Ore.
It is a dedicated raker grinder.
The spring on it is crap...way too soft. I had to stick a wedge under one end to get the head to stay up much at all. But, for the price...not bad.
