I've been praying for a cyclone (Aussie hurricane) for years to do what that has done. Especially those washingtonias; they really suck.

Great pics, get some more if you can, did any of those palms get up rooted?

I get a lot of people telling me that palms don't have much of a root system and my response is that they hang on pretty well even in sandy soils during a cyclone.
 
Sandi and I drove into Key West today and saw 2-3 old date palms blown over at the golf course. Key West is a very tight area, little houses breaking the wind. I just still can not get over the clear trunks on the Washy's. Amazing.
 
I have also heard of old phoenix pams toppling from the base. Other than that, I would agree with Ekka that most palms hang on to the ground pretty well.
