You have to use the special threaded puller. I have a factory one but I know we made one years back, for our 5000's and I believe it may be a standard pipe thread, And it worked fine.
Thanks for the info. I tried to thread a pipe fitting on and it won't work. The worm gear is left hand threads and appears to be larger than standard pipe threads. That tool is the way to go, but $35. I decided to use the dremel with an 1/8" cutter on it. It worked great and only took a few seconds to cut through it. You have to be careful not to go too deep and hit the crank. I can get a new oiler gear for $4. I'd love to have that tool, but I couldn't justify spending the money on it when I may never need it again.
