I know you guys have covered this before but I can't find it.I finally picked up a camera and some how managed to get pics from it onto this puter. I'm one of those fellas that give me a welder,torch,hammer and a few wrenches (forgot duct tape) and I'll fix or build about anything. BUT, when it comes to this stuff I'm worthless and hate it. I see all the pics of your stuff and get frustrated I can't show mine.(kind a sounds sick, show me yours I'll show ya mine) OK then, any instructions for posting pics for dummies?????? Thanks a bunch

Ron, get your pics downloaded to your computer first. Sign up for a host site like photobucket.com, it's free. Upload your pics to photobucket. When you're posting, there's a little icon above with a mountain showing, click that,it says insert image. On photobucket, the second line down in the pic. options, copy and paste it into the upload image box. Use 'preview post' below to make sure the pic came through. It sounds like a lot of BS, but once you do a few it's easy.

First thing ya gotta do is put the pics on the net. Shutterfly, fotobucket etc.
This site doesn't support direct placement of pics from your computer.

Posting Photos here - Option 1

Actually, it's not really necessary to do that with external sites.

Use the normal reply function.

Type your text portion of your message.

Scroll down to manage attachments.

Find, attach, and upload the image file.

Complete and post your message.

Here's a random picture off my computer - happens to be the flywheel off my Bobcat's engine. This process requires that the reader click on the link at the end of the post to open the pic to view.

There's a "sticky" on here somewhere on how to post pics. Better do it right the first time or they'll be on you like a pack of wolves. It is kind of confusing at first though. Good luck.

Here's a sample - Happy early Easter.......

Posting pics - A second option

If you'd like to make it so the pic is displayed automatically, you can add the following steps:

Preview your post.

I use FireFox- IE-6/7, etc is probably different for the following step:
Right-click on the hyperlink for the attachment and select "copy link location"
Click on the yellow INSERT IMAGE icon just above your message text box
Paste the link into the dialog box and click ok

attachment.php

Select preview and the image should be inserted at whatever point your cursor was at.

Easy.

Sure it does, I do it all the time direct from the camera or from My Pix on my computer. Just hit the manage attachments button and upload from there. If you want the pix in the post (without clicking the link) copy your uploaded arborsite URL and paste it too the yellow postcard looking icon with the mtns on the message line toolbar and click ok. Pretty simple. :cheers:

Not to add to the confusion but make sure the file size not actual size of pic is smaller than 300 meg. If its too big youll get the dreaded red X :)

projectsho89 Hey Bro !enquiring minds must ask What was this about.

Then there's HTML coding...<BR>
I do all my images through HTML. I host the photo's on my own site, then embed the string in the text...<BR>
<BR>
I can't seem to list the string, it embeds it...
you need the quotes and brackets, not the quote brackets<BR>

<BR>
<img src="http://mcallisterdrywall.com/AS/12-28-2008/saw9.JPG"><BR>
<BR>
Once there on your/a site, you can always link them to other sites, you never have to upload again.<BR>

The easiest way is to do it is upload your pics to Photobucket.com.
It only takes a few minutes to create an account and upload your pics. Once you have your pics uploaded there you just put your arrow on the pic of your choice and a box will open up, click on the line HTML code and it will automatically copy the code. It's quicker if you have two browsers open (I think that's what it's called). Come back here and post when your ready to post the pic, right click your mouse and click paste and the copied code will be pasted in your post. Click preview post and you should see your pic. If all looks good click the submit reply.
I hope that helps.:dizzy: ..............454

PS: It took me 6 months to figure out how to post pics when I joined my first forum. Oh and don't forget spell check.
