Purchased a nice looking 034 that had low compression as in only 75 psi. Wasn't sure how a person could even run a saw with this low of compression. The piston skirt and cylinder wall looked OK through the muffler, but when I pulled the jug today I could see what happened. The retaining clip for the wrist pin came loose and found itself wedged between the piston skirt and the cylinder wall and really toasted the piston. Have a Meteor 036 piston and cylinder that I'll replace the damaged parts with. I guess it was because of the I started looking for other possible issues and thought the crankshaft to piston rod bearing seemed sloppy. No play up and down, but side to side looks to be about .020" at the piston end of the rod. Not sure what to expect, so I thought I'd get some opinions.
