hi,

i have an old craftsman 2.1ps model 358.350871 with powersharp and 1/4" pitch 14" bar 76 drive links.
now i'm searching a replacement chain.

i found the oregon 91lx chain, but this one is only available in 3/8".
now, i do not want to change to 3/8, i would like to keep this saw original.

help anybody?

salut, peter

Put Oregon 25ap 1/4 microchisel chain in the saw. 1/4 chain cuts very good, and smooth. Expensive, but works really well and safety, more than 3/8.

I think I have some

I need to dig a bit

The tricky part is finding the sharpening stones for the saw

I always carry carlton 1/4 inch regular chain and I am pretty sure I have some of the barracuda style left in 1/4 inch

pes+,
please let me know if you find a chain.
i could need a new sharpening stone too...

for the moment i have installed a standard 1/4" chain.
but i would like to have the original chain.
i dont want to use this saw too much anyway. it is pretty rare in europe
and i like it.

i am searching the blue craftsman 2.3ps with the roller tip nose

So far no 1/4"

I found some loops of 3/8ths

I know I don't have any new stones but may have some usable used ones.

Not likely but possible as that was the biggest problem with the whole set up the stones would break loose on the second or third sharpening.

For small 1/4" pitch use a 9/64 file for the first few sharpens then 5/32 file for the rest, touch down the rakers once when the teeth are 1/2 worn

I've seen that Powersharp chain somewhere, but can't remember where now. Struck me as funny when I saw it as I couldn't believe there was a market for it, but I guess there is. I have the loops that came off my Explorer's at home, but I don't think there's much life left in them.

power-sharp chain in 1/4" pitch was discontinued by oregon...

please take a look in your cellars, attics, garages.
will pay a good price for new, original packed loop (76 links) and a new sharpening stone too.

salut, peter
