Probably not what you guys were thinking from the title, but the truth, none the less.
I went in early this morning in a slight drizzle. Had to be at work by 9 o clock so I was'nt feeling too good about the hunt being it 8:15 already. Had not seen a single deer this year except one 6 point and two does. Getting frustrated but sticking it out.
About 45° and dropping. Cold front coming in. I'm slowly stalking thru down a narrow ridge heading toward an Alfalfa field. I jump up a few does and keep heading off the ridge. A few minutes later I hear a buck grunting over in the hollow below. I see the doe coming up toward me and this buck right on her tail. I got a good shot at about 40 yds. Stopped him and made a good shoulder shot with my 45-70. he dropped on the spot, layed a second and then gets up! Starts off and falls a few steps later. 11 points. 10 mainframe with an extra browtine on the right side. He is decent for sure. 17" inside. Points could be longer but a good main beam length. To keep it on topic, I sharpened my saw when I got home. And made it to work by 10.
Hey Hillbilly, I still got one more buck tag!
