I just replaced some parts in my cast iron woodstove and I recall reading something once about the need to temper the cast iron by burning several small fires before fully firing the stove. Does a anybody have any specific info on the proper procedure for doing this? How small do the first fires need to be and for what duration? How many times should you do this?... and should each fire be progressively hotter? Does the stove need to 'completely' cool between firings? What exactly should you be trying to accomplish? Thanks, I just want to avoid the same problems with parts cracking/warping, etc..
