Pro's and Con's of the cold

Smart wool?

"Smartwool" is just a revamped marketing bs for merino wool thats been around for years but lost its light with the advent of fleece and goretex type fabrics.
Just yesterday I finally parted ways with a my favourite wool pants, after 26 years they were showing there age, and getting kinda thin and airy. If my new pair lasts as long im good to go right in to my wooden box wearing em.

I inherited three pairs of wool pants from my dad and acquired two more. Two of my dads finally had to be thrown away but I’m certain I won’t wear out the remaining ones.

Once I got the fevers and stuff I got a bunch of rashes that were purple on the middle and gradually turned back to skin color about ten inches round. Probaly thirty of them or so.

First they thought I had meningitis then it was lymes then west Nile then anaplasmosis all came back negative so they sent a sample to Boston to a lymes specialist and was positive.

They think I had it for so long because lymes gets worse in stages of not treated. Was on doxycycline for a month then all symptoms went away that I had except iv been off of it for 4 months now and I have a hard time concentrating. Reading blueprints and making material lists is very hard for me now. It’s like I have no spare memory and can’t remember numbers I have to write everything down as i go It sucks

I have been an out doors man all my life and as a kid we got tick bites all the time in the summer.
About 10 years ago I was working with a cutting crew up in Maryland on the navel base and I started itching.
I looked down and I had thousands of ticks crawling on me. We were cutting around some bomb huts where they made bombs that were inactive and I went into one of the huts and stripped my close off and I had thousands of ticks on me. I spent about 2 hours in there picking as many of them off that I could. When I got home that evening I had hundreds of red welts and red spots where I had been bit and I found many more ticks still on me.
They were little tint things and my best guess is I must have gotten into a nest of them.
I have never been checked for limes and I do have health issues that I never had looked at.
If I have limes I've had it for a long time. I never put the two together as a kid. If I got sick I just dealt with it.
That could explain a lot of my symptoms I have dealt with for many many years.

My few pros.

I dont mind driving in a snow storm and I like getting a bit sideways. If I'm actually "working" then yes cold is more comfortable than hot. I like to enjoy the snow and dont mind plowing as much as I do cutting grass. Being a hvac guy a 4 season town is the best. Need to have a white Christmas.

Here in buffalo we get cold and cold always brings wind which sucks. Living a few miles from a great lake I get ridiculous snow at times. It's the middle of November and we already got 12 inches of snow and cold and I've ditched the jacket. No need for it until the damn wind kicks up. Come February I will have had enough. Then spring will come and it will be 47 degrees and I'll be in a t shirt thinking its warm out.

Con: Dressing in layers and getting the squirts and having to try and get the one piece Carhartt jumpsuit off and get through all those layers in time to keep from sh!ting yourself.

Winter and summer suck.

Dont like freezing my balls off and dont like sweat dripping off them.

I can get more done at 10-50° F

Sadly though there is less tree work.

Its all just God lauging.
"Oh you are bichin about being hot? Now take a bath in ice! Haaaahaaaaahaaaa!"

I can't take the heat anymore.
I just cant get anything done at triple digits without near death issues.

I used to hate winter but am looking forward to this one.

I will still complain regardless.

Video has cursing so dont watch if sensitive to expletives.

Doesn't bother me much till it's in the -25* or colder range, then.it kind of sucks.

50* is barely sweatshirt weather.

My feet freeze from October to May. I’ve tried everything. I’ve researched the causes and can’t find my problem. My wife says it’s all in my head and she may be right.
If I’m out cutting wood in cool weather, I never notice it until I stop.
I’m an outdoors guy and dislike the short daylight hours. I would go nuts in Alaska.
I see Big guys that wear shorts in the winter. I’m envious.

Pros:
No bugs biting at you
No snakes
No bees/wasps stinging you
No drinking a gallon of water in 3 hours to barely stay hydrated
You don't look like you just got out of the pool after working
Snow makes for great ice cubes in a cooler
Wood heat feels amazing after being out in the cold
The crackle of an indoor fire

Cons:
Women wear more clothes

I hear u on the day light hours. I live close to the NWT border in Alberta so our daylight is runnin pretty low now. It bothers me more than the cold.

Gonna be turning the corner on daylight hours in just about 5 weeks, and we don't have snow yet and things are just starting to freeze here.

Believe it or not the government created lymes during ww2 for biological warfare. Didn’t know this till I found a huge article online about it

The pro of cold you can walk barefoot and go swimming no bugs . Not much daylight so some dumb butt thinks you need to work a bunch not anymore. Hey it's dark call it a day .Most people are depressed and don't expect much .Not many are cold an light tested this time you have the edge . They moan about how depressed they are and never step one foot out of the house . Well take off your socks walk around your house an enjoy winter look at the crisp stars . Well sucker if you don't like my advice enjoy winter like you always do . Set in your house an moan . If want to get warm get cold .

Pro:
No need for buying or owning or using any type of snow equipment.

 

[Multifaceted]

I'm hot blooded so the cold is more comfortable. Extreme cold and wind conditions are no bueno, but I'd rather endure that over 90°+ heat and high humidity. 25°-35° and sunny is the perfect weather for me to be outdoors, I love it.

My 'Pros' lost would be too long, so my cons are: less daylight, and too muddy if a mild and wet winter.

That's all I got, I love the winter and the colder months.
