Well my splitter is almost finished and I have a couple of questions for you hydraulic whizzes.I went with the prince 22 gal. PTO pump and five inch cylinder and a 19 gallon tank .I am going to order my detent valve for northern hydraulics and just wanting to make sure that this is an open center system or a closed system?Hope this doesn't sound like a dumb question I just don't know alot of the terminolgy. My next question is it ok to have the filter element in a sideways mount or does the filter need to hang in a downward position.I am having some clearance issues and needs to be turned to to side if this will not cause any issues.

I'm 99% sure that pump requires an open center system. As for the filter, position shouldn't matter except for ease of removal for replacement. Obviously having it hang down means less spillage when replacing.

Good luck with your splitter!
