In the coming Grid-down/Society-down scenario....having some portable 12/24V power may prove invaluable....and, of course, in the interim......a great collectible...!
Very clean, original unit, designed by William P. Lear (LearJet, etc....)
Made by LEAR AVIA, Avionics Div.
As you can see from one 1979 ad in a photo below, the retail then was $359....which, adjusted for inflation (i.e. NON-federal Res Note/dollar-value-erosion, due to hyper-printing of an unbacked fiat currency....), it would cost $1,244.08 today. Thus....a real bargain, here...!!
As I recall, the powerhead is a McCulloch 10-10. With, of course, an integrated alternator.
The 1973 publicity info. (see photo ; at link, above photos posted here) indicates that it will charge any battery in less than 10 minutes. Might be a handy unit, for commercial/fleet operators; for the Prepper, etc.
Hadn't been run for years; started right up yesterday and ran fine. - With the cover off, I hadn't recalled that the small switch is NOT on/off, but...to switch between the 12V and 24V outputs. Thus, I only tested for 12V output, which ranged between about 14 and 15V, with just the meter as load.
- $395. ; plus the Ride...
Well.....it has been said that 'Love knows no bounds'...but, perhaps, the bound$ of love, for this
lovable unit, will be met at....$359.
