I'm rebuilding a couple old saws I have and was wondering when running the saw when complete without a bar and chain is it alright to run them without putting bar oil in them? In the past I've added bar oil and just let them leak all over the place. Makes a great mess and was just wondering if it would be ok to run them without bar oil? Would it hurt anything?

It will be fine. Make sure you don't send a clutch into the stratosphere. Also, don't trust the tune.
About that clutch? How do you know?
