ive used the walmart spout before and on some jugs it works great others not so much. one jug the thread pitch was a little different and the spout popped off when i put a little pressure on it while using it. Made a huge mess.

I have a clear jug that fits it and just transfer the oil to the clear one so I know at a glance how much oil is in it

I use gallon jug...figure the extra I spill is good for the chain and weatherproofs my gloves.

Same for me, Ive put the spout on gallon jugs. I only use gallon jugs...

Ive recently been using a 1 gallon gas can, the newer type that have a button on the back. Really good cans for fuel. For bar oil its so so. Probably wont stick with it.

I use an old laundry soap jug, I seen a guy on youtube doing it. They have a built in spout, it looks funny but works great.

That is what we used for years. Funny if you loan one it never comes home. Using the Husky combi can now like @JeremiahJohnson.
Husky can is awesome. Tree guy bought 2 from me dropped tree on one bent but didn't break, no leaks.
