On my 2100 I advanced the timing by the width of the timing mark on the case, I filed the holes into slots on the ignition. I figure the width of the timing mark in the case would be enough to advance it. I understand all saws are different but we need to have a starting point.

I filed the holes in the ignition counter clockwise. That turned the ignition clockwise to advance the timing. The crankshaft turns counter clockwise.
