I need some Poulan 2300 help. When I went to the gentlmans house to look at the saw I posted above I could see the fuel line was torn where it enters the carb housing. I shot some mix in the intake and it fired.

Today I tore it down to replace the line and noticed the cylinder was not tight to the case. Kind of caught me off thinking it would not have fired before with it like this. I figured I would check the squish and just delete the base gasket. I ended up with .28" of squish. I'm asking because this is the first time I have tried without a gasket. Does .28" sound correct for this saw?

Mine has .23", measured from the raised band inside the top of the cylinder. I sanded down the cylinder on a plate of glass with sanding paper and deleted the base gasket.
It's safe and there is some free power when you leave the base gasket out.
I also removed the spark screen from the muffler. It's a good runner now!

Here's a Craftsman made by Pouilan that I worked on last year:

Medium-sized, about 62 cc, it runs perfectly today. I have in my artillery a 42cc Craftsman/Poulan that also runs flawlessly after I installed a custom-made, typical tension adjuster. An 18" Echo bar fit it perfectly. It weighs about the same as my Stihl 025 and is only a tad heavier than my Stihl MS210C. A good limbing saw, it refuses to die.
