I can't understand why he ran into it!
Two steps to the right or the left is usually out of the danger zone. I have a tendency to go away 90° from the fall line, quickly, with or without the saw. Have two outs especially in the brush. If it cracks or pops I don't hesitate to step back twice and look up. I usually leave the saw. Saves time if stuff is falling from above. Twice, I'm gone looking for the long bar or pole saw. Rarely need to run.

Occasionally you do, but I hear ya. I couldn't make out too well what was happening there.
Being a licensed and insured MD Tree Expert for 40+ years, I have NEVER seen a tree felled with the face cut on the wrong side. Looks like the typical idiot that thinks a face cut trumps Physics and can lift a whole tree up against the lean.
