Ok you are probably right...I guess what I was getting at when I said they only made L's is they only made them with one handle configuration.

I bought an 009E new in '96. Great saw. Hope it lasts another 12 years!

Bought an old beaten-on 009 from eBay about a year ago. Replaced the fuel line, the vent line and cleaned the carb and the thing has worked flawlessly ever since.
I have mine in a holster on the side of my Skandic WT and it gets a hard going over each Winter. It is usually packed full of snow when I reach for it and although the compression does seem a little low, it fires up every time and continues to get me out of the nastiest of jams.
Great saw. Much better in the cold than the 017/018 series of saws.

I had one for a little while, kind of a turd power wise. You guys who think the 009 has decent power have been sniffing too much glue. A 2.5 c.i. Homelite Super EZ will flat out spank a 009.
009's do seem to start when you need them, and are nice and light for climbing or limbing
