The throttle/handle on my 028 broke. I have a parts saw that I would like to swap the handle/gas tank between the two but am unable to disconnect the handle. Can someone provide a link to a step by step procedure of removing and reinstalling this part? The part I'm referring to contains the linkage to the the throttle control, the gas tank and the carberator housing. Does the carb have to be removed from the housing before it can be removed from the saw?

Push the throttle wide open either within(inside)/or outside on the carb (with a stick, pin, ...not with the throttle handle...) and you should be able to pull the linkage away. After that disconnect the fuel line and the 8mm nuts. Should pull right out......

Best Of LucK!

Sorry read that as replacing the carb, ......time for sleep.........

Just take it apart and think about how it goes back together. 028 is not that much diff. from an 026, and I KNOW how those suckers are put together....
Make sure the AV mounts are completely seated, and use a string to draw the intake manifold back thru the tank assembly carb hole....... U CAN FIND A THREAD ON AS that will walk u thru it..........

I found 3 screws attaching the AV mounts and am able to separate the handle from the saw BUT the lower smaller "gas?" line that is held in the carb housing with a grommet is keeping me from removing the handle completely. Do I have to remove the carb to get the line free? Any help is sure appreciated.

Impulse line... pry it off the engine nipple..

and.. remove the carb. You put the boot on the cylinder first then feed it though the new tank.
