Just make sure you get one with the Tillotson carb, not the bing. The bing carb costs more to rebuild than a Tillotson does.

Mine is a machine of evil all its own. torque out the yin yang, and HIGH power. I like it.

Where are you finding the metering plate for the tillotson carb? It is NLA at Stihl. The Bing may be pricey, but I am finding it is still repairable.

I can get almost any tillotson carb kit I need from my local Tillotson carb shop. or Baileys.

Tillotson and Bing Carbs.

I believe that if you do a search you can find the Tillotson and Bing carb kits at: www.bantasaw.com , check out the 2 cycle carb kit section and type Bing in the search box to locate the kits. I believe that Crofter ordered a bunch of carb kits from them at a reasonable price. They even have Kits for the older Tillotson carbs. Lewis.

MYRB has a Walkerized Stihl 038 Magnum for sale. The saw has never seen any cutting. This was as of last spring. I bet he still has the saw!
