Does the clutch side not seat against the oil pump on the 044?

I woulda sanded off the flaking paint before installing the bearings.

The clutch side bearing needs to be seated against the oil pump otherwise you'll have oil seal/bushing issues

I did seat the bearing against the oil pump. I wish I had got rid of the paint now too...

You're right, that would probably have been easier. I was thinking the handle would make it easier/safer to move off the bench while I'm waiting for the cylinder gasket. This is my first time splitting the case on a saw. Definitely a learning experience. Thanks.

How the hell do you get the chain break in and together in this thing. I don't remember how it came apart. This is giving me more trouble than anything so far.

What's the correct orientation of the lever thing? I know the end goes in the handle and then over the post. Should I have the band loose? I had no problem doing it with my ms260

Your bottom pic is correct.
In order to install the cam (pic#1) you need to install the brake lever at the same time

Actually......now that I look at it, your brake band is bent. You may be able to straighten it

Ah so its not suppossed to have that bend past the clutch/oiler housing? That would cause the fits i am having. Thanks

That should come straight across the top of the band. No kinks or bends.

The band doesn't get installed until after you have the handle installed
