Stihl 045 chainsaw

Well I think this is a stihl 045 anyways the recoil part number comes back as 045 or 056. How can a person figure out which model it is? I'm also interested on peoples thoughts on the value in this condition? It's pretty beat up but has spark and 140psi cold so it should run.

It has the 056 dual port muffler. Top cover doesn't have the mount for the hand guard/brake flag. Later style tag on the recoil. 056 style air cleaner cover. 056 clutch.

My guess is it's an 056 with a replacement top cover. Far as the size, you'll have to pull the muffler to measure. Not a super easy task. These can be frustrating saws to work on. Have to do steps in the correct order or there's a lot of backtracking.

Well thanks for that info. I was just going by what saws I seen on ebay for sale and sold I probably should have googled the 2 saws. An yeah they dont look to bad to work on really but I haven't tried. This saw the recoil has a hole in it the clutch cover was busted all up an the air filter cover is busted up. But the rest of the saw is good really. Just not sure what to do with it. I put it aside an decide to save another 041 with the throttle handle busted off cause I have all the parts here. Should have it done soonish an running tomorrow.

You should have no problem finding any of the parts that saw needs. I probably have them stashed away. You should investigate what ignition it has. A real weak link on these saws.
