I have an 066 that is an odd ball of the four dead ones I have. It has a 044 size clutch and white plastic between the carb and engine. Mike Acres site says the 066 was introduced in 1999. I don't think that's correct.
The serial of this one is X133539348. Anybody have some more info.
I have it running, 150psi compression.
TIA
Bob

It's an 044 or an 046, either one. If I remember correctly, the first 066s hit the shelves in October of '90, as I had just joined a Forest Service "Hotshot" crew that exclusively ran Stihl and we ordered 4 before they even came in.

you're supposed to be drinking with the wife!

lot's of differences.. tank, shroud, crankcase... etc etc...

If you have and 044, and it's not like that, maybe it's an 046 ;)
If it's an 044, is 12mm pin, so that's good..

Well the price was perfect, free. But I got it with three other saws in a box.
The deal is he gets one back running. So the 046 is together and running I have to go out and give it a run in some wood, it has 150+ compression cold so it's not dead yet. I had to round up a bunch parts to make it a saw. That leaves me with three 066 carcasses.:greenchainsaw:
