Stihl 066 magnum, handle heat ?

My dad just picked up an Stihl 066 magnum saw for me, at a garage sale for $5, the saw has handle heat but if I take it out will the saw still run or is it tied in the ignition system? I was only going to take it out because it has had replacement full wrap handle on it now.

It can run without. There's a separate generator that mounts behind the flywheel. Disconnecting it won't harm anything.

I believe that anyone buying an 066 Mag that runs for $5 is poppycock. Either that or the seller was drunk.

Lol I get some drunk buyers every now and then....normally works out ok for me
