The 250s are great saws for that they are. Once you learn how to start them, they run well. I have one that is 20+ years old and has cut countless cords of woods with a 16" bar. Keep the chain sharp and it'll keep you warm.

My mastermind 261 runs well, Love it with a 16. I couldn’t imagine running an 18 on a 250.
That 261 of yours should walk the dog with a 20”…I got a bone stock 261c that does great with an 18”…
The 18” works on the 250, but obviously it ain’t a speed demon…have to have the chain proper and let her eat not dog in..

I have a 20 on the MS400, That walks the dog. I wouldn’t run a 20 on a ported 50cc saw, Much less a stock 50cc.

I wouldn’t run a 20 on a stock 261 unless for reach of limbing…surely a your ported 261 would easily handle a 20”….
