Stihl questions

I have 2 036 stihl saws. One says made in USA. The other says Made in West Germany. I was told that they were not made there back then. Can some one set me streight on this?

The serial number tells the tale

The first digit in the serial number identifies where the saw was manufactured.


1 = Germany

2 = USA

There is another possibility, the recoil assembly and/or Stihl orange tag could be off of a 034 or 034 super also.

Are you saying they weren't made in west germany ?

3 = Brazil
