From the Stihl website under FAQ's;
How/where can I register my new STIHL product?
"The dealer should register the product for you at the time of purchase before you leave the store."

So it looks like you're SOL.

Stihl's US website says: 1 year for 'Personal, Family or Household Use', 90 days for 'Professional Use', 60 days 'when product is used for rental purposes'.

Then they have a 'Limited Lifetime Warranty' on some parts of some products 'to the original owner only and is non-transferable'.

Philbert

(But what if someone from Australia buys one in the US and has a REALLY big family . . . ). Sorry about all your trees.

The warranty transfers - all except the lifetime or 5 year part on the ignition module. 12 months for homeowners. if it was registered as "professional use", it's 90 days no matter what use you change it to later.

Yah, all my new Stihls were bought as Homeowners saws. The 361 and 440 are just really good homeowner saws ;)

careful.
stihl saws that end in '1' contain a hidden tachometer\odometer.

hey lake, how many thousand revolutions is the cut-off point for homeowner warranty repairs?

Humm, very generous , that's 277 days for 8 hours a day at WOT, or 42.7 hours a week 5 days a week for a year. When does the homeowner get time to refuel?

A more likely home owner use pattern is 8 hours a month across a year.
8 x 60 x 12 x 12000 = 69,000,000 revs

Even a pro user at 4 hours a day x 5 days a week x 12000 rpm x 60 x 52 = 748,800,000 revs

(I thought that I had too much time on my hands!)
