I have a bunch of 036 saws, all are set up with 18-20" 3/8" bars, 7 pin. Thinking of mixing it up a bit and was thinking about doing up one or two with 16" bars and 8 pin rims....if it will pull it? If so, should I run 3/8" or 325?

If it's a bad idea, that's fine.....I'll just leave them alone.

I don't think an 8 pin with the 3/8" chain would be all that great an idea. It would work with .325.

Why? Sounds like you have a pretty good set-up as it is.

Put an 8 pin on with 16" and see, bet it does better than you think, especially a saw with a MM done to it. Mine screams a 7 pin with a 20" bar.... 16" with an 8 would be like a light saber!

If you don't, I will when I get home!

ive run my 036 with an 8 pin 325 20" since new and it cuts like a madman shes getting up there in years (dog years-same as chainsaw years) so CAD reared its ugly head one day and this 362 in the same configuration just showed up out of thin air
