This is an initial test to find the fastest sprocket for each bar. Then I will test with better chains and also add in a 20" bar and some 404 stuff as well. Special thanks to @Definitive Dave

Test saw - Tree Monkeyed 661R
New chains (oregon .063 3/8 vanguard) for each setup.
These chains are forsale if anyone wants them $15 per.

btw - that is the new designed tsumura bar. It's bad ass! lost 3.5oz off the old version. So it's neck and neck with a stihl light now.

The only thing I took away from the above test is which sprocket to use for each bar. So the next test is lining up like so.

I see on this video (25" cannon Belly Bar roller nose 10pin 90dl) it really is a pin type sprocket. At least with the 8 a normal sprocket would be available would not it? Any difference to be expected if a conventional design sprocket.

The spread sheet is appreciated especially with two runs to see what sort of variation. Are you sure the middle three rows are not mixed up as to the drive links and pin number, the other two go larger towards the bottom? The times for the middle three rows would more resemble the others if the pin numbers were flipped.

8 would be a "normal" molded/cast sprocket. The 9 and 10 were pin. I seriously doubt there is a difference between cast and pin. but who knows.

both logs are maple. But the second maple is drier from the noodles I put into it (another test) a few weeks back. But it's also a taller vertically.

no. the results are correct. The "why" they are different - is a discussion on gearing vs torque. Basically the larger the sprocket/wheel/gear = less torque. There are two "gears" being changed here. The sprockets and the tip sizes. In short the cannon wide tip (larger gear) reduces torque. So when you combine the larger tip/gear of the cannon sbp with the 10 pin sprocket you reduce the torque too much relative to the tsumura and it's thus slower.

So I ran the 2nd test today with brand new stihl RSLH chains. The Stihl RSLH was the fastest in my 36" chain test by a good margin. So that is what I figured I'd use. Anyway here are the different bars with what I thought were the best sprocket combos based on the 1st test.
