Those two XP's of yours should get a workout!! What do you do for splitting, and what did the load cost you per cord in Michigan?

Thanks - - - Al
:clap::clap::clap:

Most will be hand split and then rent a splitter for a day for the nasty stuff. The XP's won't be the only thing getting a good workout. :givebeer: It's running right at $100 a cord up here for good hardwood.

Mine too!

All Oak and Hickory 22' long, 8-10" in diameter easy to deal with.

At lest 9 cords here, not much splitting to do.

Dang, you got all limbs. J/K Your right, the smaller stuff is easier to work up in all aspects. I know the forester I got the logs from and he asked if I would mind some bigger stuff. Mostly sugar maple with a little soft maple and yellow birch. A few lengths of ironwood for good measure.

Nothing sweeter than cutting log loads. For awhile they were hard to get around here but with the Lyons Falls co-energy plant down for parts log loads are back...

...but not for silly money like 10 years ago or so. It was good for the wood burner when everyone and their brother wanted to sell you a log load.

Do you have a way to move the logs around to cut them, or do you plan to cut them as they lay? Looks dangerous. Those are some heavy logs

Yeah, it would be a little tricky cutting them like that. I use a cant hook and cut them on the ground or on the stringers. The cant hook makes things allot easier.

I just got the mingo this year and really like it!!! I don't think I could ever go back to splitting without a tire! Sure is easier on the back and less time spent picking it up every time.
