I was 21 and a squad leader on a Forest Service Hotshot crew at the time. Hollis was servicing saws and selling parts out of his trailer at a fire camp on a huge fire in central Washington, the "Tyee" fire which ended up around 120k acres. He held a two-day small engine class in fire camp for all the cutters and saw bosses. Myself and four of my guys attended. He had some really cool tricks.
Didn't he set a world record for chain race @ Morton?
I'm not sure, I think so. I know he set several records in events in Albany.
