Before anyone says yet another throw bag thread please read on. I know the size if mainly personal preference and or depending on the the line you use. I want to know what kind are you using. Are you using the fancy colored ones that sheril sells or are you using the plain old vinyl ones. I can seem to keep the vinyl ones to last. I know hitting concrete shortens their life but I try not to just seems like one hit on the ground and they are dead.

I use a 16 ounce or 14 ounce with slick line. I use both vinyl and the nylon bags. I usually wrap my bags with duct tape or electrical tape to keep the from busting open if they land on the concrete. Works well for me, makes my bag last a long time.

16,14,oz depending on which line. I kinda like the new 1000 lb line from New England it has almost no resistance when thrown. For the last 10 years or so what I have been doing when a throw bag gets a small hole in it you can get some Silicon window ( Fish tank) sealant the clear non-harding kind, push the tube into the hole and pump some in knead it around ( mix it all around the shot)and let it dry. it will make the bag swell up and it will bounce like a rubber ball but you can use it for a much longer time before it go's away.

Thanks for all your responses. For those that might be confused. I am not asking what weight you buy more what type and how they last as far as the constant beating of hitting the ground and how they hang up. Thanks for the whipit and silicone ideas. Are you using just regular silicone like you would around a window.

I use a 10 and a 12. The 10 hurts really bad when it hits you in your sac! What do you bigshot fellas recommend for your weight with one of those slingshots.

Interesting note: A throwbag, some KY, and a potatoe gun will get you up to 175' with about 15 seconds of propane into the fill chamber. Dont be stingy with the KY ( just make sure the Mrs. is out shopping ):dizzy:

I throw with a 9.5oz and a 12-14 on the other end. Harrison Rockets only and would never use anything else simply because they are so good.

I would never use the Sherill Rip offs!

Are Harrison Rockets sold stateside? I always need an excuse to buy more gear and this sounds like a good research candidate. Some of my other bags are singed.:greenchainsaw:

I made a pneumatic tennis ball launcher similar to what is described here:
www.antennalaunchers.com/antlaunching.html I did not use a reel. I just launch out of the cord the throw bag.

A tennis ball full of BBs weighs 16oz. I can get 90' at 50psi, and I have no concern putting in 100psi. I have not measured the height at 100 psi though.

I originally got the idea here (probably a year and a half ago) on the video forum...

Once the line is over the limb, I switch to a throw bag as they pull over branches better.

Somebody mentioned above the new Sherrill Bags have a small ring that goes through the friction saver rings. I have found the same problem.

Edit to add: Bearclaw's video is still in the video forum here...

Sounds like a good idea, probably keeps it looking clean too. Doesn't that make it hang up a little more in tight spots ?

no, you dip it, let it dry.. just puts a smooth skin on it...sorta like dipping a strawberry in chocolate,, just tougher than chocolate....same stuff on the handles of your pliers..

no vids yet. The design is pretty basic: reducer, endcap, large pipe, small pipe, y fitting with threaded end for threaded end cap, grill igniter kit, fitting for gas line with check valve ( hairspray is always a good alternative just dont spray directly on igniter ) Google it, have fun, but be careful ... have enough beer and Idahos:cheers:
