I was just wondering what timber cruising software you guys might be using and what you recommended. I have used timber tools in the past and find it useless in the east. I am looking at Cruisecalc now. what do you guys suggest?

My recomended software

I have been using a software called "Cruise Control" for the last seven years. It is a very user friendly software. You can do 100% tally, point sample, fixed area plots and print the reports in the matter of minutes. The units are weather proof and I have never had one fail on me. You can get a generic unit or one with GPS capability. The program is made to take much of the human error out tally process as possible.

This is a fairly new software that has only been on the market since 2002. I know several other foresters that use in in the east and it is gaining popularity. The units run about $2000-2500 depending on the handheld you buy to run

You won't be sorry
