Been burning wood real heavy the last 2 winters here in Birmingham, AL and developed a small crack at the seam of the back right corner of my fireplace...about 6 inch's high and about 1/2 inch wide.

Several so called "Fireplace/Wood Guru's" have said it's no big deal...just keep chucking all the hickory, ash and cherry I've got seasoned into it!
They insist there's no danger of any sparks or fire leaping between the the crack and igniting whatever's behind it!

I told them they were on some high powered narcotics...and to get the hell headed!:msp_angry:

A really good Brick Mason told me he'd ficit for $100 or redo the whole Fireplace for $150 if I supplied the Firebrick & mortar.

I'm yet a novice at all this what are my risk if I "overlook" the crack and is this a decent sounding repair price?

Thanks Guys...
Appreciate cha:)
